Is the Veloped easy to set up at home?

Yes. The Veloped arrives ready to use and takes a few minutes to set up, with no tools. You take it out of the box, click the wheels into place and set the handle height. Any accessories you ordered come already mounted on the Veloped.

Step by step

These are the steps from the User Guide that comes in the box.

  1. Rear wheels. Press the black button in the centre of the wheel, push the axle all the way into the rear axle hole on the frame, and let go of the button.
  2. Check the rear wheels. Hold the tyre and push and pull the wheel sideways. It should not come loose.
  3. Front wheel. Lift the front of the frame, press the black button at the bottom of the front wheel axle and push the axle up into the hole under the frame. Let go of the button.
  4. Check the front wheel. Lift the front of the frame off the ground and pull the front wheel downwards. It should stay in place.
  5. Set the handle height. Fold both quick-release levers outwards, slide the grip bar to the height you want, then fold both levers back in to lock it.

Finding the right handle height

Stand up straight with your shoes on and let your arms hang relaxed by your sides, elbows slightly bent. The distance from the floor to your wrist bone is your grip height. Ask someone to help you measure.

Many people set the handles too high, thinking it gives a more upright posture. It does the opposite, and it makes the Veloped less stable. At wrist height you can walk closer to the grips and stand more upright, and the brakes work better.

The easiest way to adjust the height is to sit on the Veloped's seat, where you can see the height marks clearly. Always fold the quick-release levers; never turn them like wing nuts.

Before your first walk

  • Tyre pressure: 1.5–2.0 bar is recommended, 2.5 bar (35 psi) at most.
  • Grip angle: if you want to, you can turn the grips to a more comfortable angle by loosening the screw at the rear end of each grip with a 4 mm Allen key, turning the grip and tightening the screw again.
