What is the role of the mutuelle (complementary insurance)?
After the Assurance Maladie has paid its share, your complementary insurance (mutuelle) covers the ticket modérateur — the remaining 40% of the €53.81 base — and sometimes more. Many contracts reimburse a medical device at 200% to 400% of the base, up to the price actually paid.
For a premium model such as the Trionic Veloped or Walker, check whether your contract includes a "medical equipment" allowance or a rate above 100%. Ask your mutuelle for a reimbursement simulation before buying, to estimate your remaining cost.
